Welcome

Kellie Elmore is a writer who knows no bounds. She believes self-expression is most beautiful in its pure, raw and unedited form. “No rules, just write” is her motto.
Kellie finds inspiration in nature and in the humble surroundings of her “backyard” – Southeast Tennessee. Through poetry and prose, Kellie writes freely about cherished and magical moments as well as tragic losses. Her goal is to take readers back, rekindle a memory or elicit a feeling. Charles Bukowski wrote, “If it doesn’t burst out of you, don’t do it.” Kellie agrees and states, “If it were not for my pen, I would explode! Writing is my happy pill.”  Join Kellie as she writes her way through life’s journey – magic in the backyard. -Read the Blog

About the Blog…

Magic in the Backyard was created by Kellie Elmore in mid 2010. Posts include poetry, prose and various special topics including a plethora of writing prompts and challenges. A weekly free verse writing challenge titled “Free Write Friday” is a site specialty which has grown into a thriving community. Aside from writing herself, Kellie has a deep passion for encouraging other’s to pick up their pen. “Writing, whether it be poetry, prose or simply journal(ing), is a wonderful tool for anyone seeking a creative outlet to release or vent. Anyone can do it and if done for the mere joy and self exploration, there is no way to do it wrong.” says Kellie.

Life in Quotations, another series on Magic in the Backyard, is a quote prompt for open discussion allowing readers to “re-write” the given quote making it their own and in return, participants are rewarded with a personalized image Kellie likes to call “Quoto’s”.
